AI Ethics Leadership & Strategic Communications in HealthTech

At mpathic, a clinical AI healthcare company, I served as VP of Marketing and Clinical Team Lead, working across both technical AI governance and strategic communications. The core of this work was ensuring that how the company built and deployed AI actually matched what it claimed publicly about safety, fairness, and accountability.

On the governance side, I developed company-wide AI Principles centered on enhancing human capabilities, respecting privacy, ensuring fairness, and preventing harm. I supervised a 12-person clinical annotation team responsible for data quality, bias detection, and labeling, establishing quality control processes and annotation guidelines that emphasized representativeness and diversity in training data. I collaborated with engineering and clinical leadership to ensure AI systems met both clinical standards and regulatory requirements, contributing to systems that achieved a 600% increase in medical monitoring accuracy in FDA-regulated clinical trials.

On the communications side, I translated that governance work into public-facing narratives for investors, healthcare providers, regulators, and media. That meant developing messaging frameworks, writing press releases, managing media strategy, and preparing executives for policy discussions and regulatory forums. Coverage included Fierce Pharma, GeekWire, and AWS.

Key outcomes: Demonstrated how AI governance frameworks can be operationalized in practice while maintaining transparent communications, strengthening stakeholder trust and establishing mpathic as a leading voice in responsible healthcare AI. Positioned mpathic as thought leader in responsible AI through integrated technical and communications leadership. Achieved 400% increase in organic press coverage and 1,700% increase in qualified leads. Supported company growth from Seed to Series A ($15M) through consistent, evidence-led communications.
